Why quit?
So… you smoke? Do you want to quit? What are your reasons for wanting to quit smoking?
There are loads of reasons people give why they want to quit smoking like: better smelling hair, clothes and breath, clearer skin, improved fitness, not having to stand outside in the cold for a crafty fag, feeling healthier… then list could go on and on!

What other benefits are there of quitting smoking?
The good thing is that once someone quits smoking, the benefits to their health happen straight away….
- After just 20 minutes, their blood pressure and heart rate return to normal – which means their heart doesn’t have to work as hard.
- After 1 hour, the blood goes round their body easier, making their hands and feet feel much warmer.
- After 1 day, the lungs begin to work better and all the carbon monoxide (a poisonous gas) has completely gone from their body.
- After 2 days, all the nicotine (the substance which makes smoking addictive) has gone from their body. Also, their taste and smell improves.
- After 1 month, they will have much more energy.
- After 6 months, the danger of having a heart attack, cancer and other smoking diseases becomes less.
- After 5 years, the danger of a heart attack keeps getting smaller.
- After 10 years, danger of a heart attack is about the same as someone who has never smoked.
