Why Promote Signal One Smokebusters?
As part of your pupil’s ongoing development with regards to smoking prevention, we would like you to recruit your pupils to the Signal One Smokebusters club, which is a smoking prevention project co-ordinated by the Directorate of Health Promotion.
Signal One Smokebusters is a FREE club for 10 – 15 year olds who don’t smoke or who want to quit smoking, which has been running successfully since 1994. The club aims to encourage and support young people to be smoke free by providing relevant and appropriate information on smoking related issues, promoting a positive image of non-smoking and helping young people who want to quit.
When young people join the club they will receive a FREE Signal One Smokebusters membership pack, which includes a range of Smokebuster goodies, their own membership card, a certificate, discount vouchers for local attractions, information on smoking, and access to the ‘Members Only’ area on the Signal One Smokebusters website.
The Signal One Smokebusters website provides information on smoking (e.g. What’s in a Cigarette, how to resist Peer Pressure, Tips on Quitting Smoking), a Your Contributions section where members can contribute pictures, poems and quizzes about smoking, debates and polls on smoking, a Reviews section (e.g. music, films, games), a Youth Action section to encourage young people to take action in the fight against tobacco, Competitions, Games and lots, lots more! As the website will be continuously be updated, members will hopefully keep coming back to the website, which will help to ensure that the topic of smoking is constantly being focussed on in a fun, yet informative way throughout the pupil’s school career.
Your pupils can join online under the Join Today section.
