Have your say on how to protect children and young people form smoking
The government is currently running a public consultation on the future of tobacco control. They would like to hear your views and opinions on what you think they should do around a number of smoking issues.
The four main themes:
• How to make a healthier nation by reducing the number of people who smoke
• Protecting children and young people from smoking
• Helping smokers to quit
• Helping those who cannot quit
The ideas include:
• Remove branding and logos from all tobacco packaging e.g. make cigarette
packets plain with no pictures or graphics
• Have a minimum cigarette pack size of 20 to stop young people from being
able to afford to buy cigarettes
• Stop young people from using cigarette vending machines i.e. ban vending
machines altogether or put age identification devices on machines ;
• Remove the display of cigarettes in shops
To help the government to make the right decisions they need to hear your ideas. To do this all you need to do is answer this small questionnaire. This questionnaire will enable you to put forward your views on what the government can do to reduce the impact of smoking on young people. We will present your response to the government as part of a wider Stoke-on-Trent response.
Every entry will be entered in to a free prize draw to win Potteries Shopping Centre voucher.
Closing Date: 23 August 2008
